OUR CORE BELIEFS

"Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance.
The only thing it cannot be is moderately important."
C.S. Lewis • Mere Christianity

The Bible

We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the Scriptures. Therefore, we believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God.

God

We believe in one God who has eternally existed in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God)

Jesus Christ

We believe He was fully God and fully human. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus became man, lived a sinless life, and died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins. Three days later, He rose from the dead and ascended into Heaven where He is our High Priest and Mediator, and He will one day physically return.

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit lives in each Christian from the moment of salvation. He makes us aware of our need for Christ and draws us close to Him. The Spirit of God gives us new life, understanding of spiritual truths, guidance and power to live and proclaim the gospel. Beyond indwelling all believers, He also calls, equips and enables all Christians to be effective in ministry.

Humanity

We believe that all people were created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts.

Salvation

We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin.

The Church

We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and by making Him known to the lost world.

Eternity

We believe that ultimately God will judge the living and the dead: those who are saved will be resurrected to eternal life with God, and those who are lost will be resurrected to eternal separation from God.

Marriage

We believe that God created human beings in His image as male and female (Genesis 1:27), and designed marriage to be a covenant between one man and one woman. While human sexuality is a good gift from God, it has been damaged by the Fall in Genesis 3. The Bible condemns as sin both heterosexual activity outside of marriage and homosexual behavior. We approach those struggling with their sexuality with love and compassion, helping them align with God's "very good" design through the Gospel.
